Type 1 Diabetes
Support

I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of four, so have lived a lifetime of managing this chronic condition. Diabetes management involves caring for so many aspects of our physical health, but caring for our mental health with this disease is equally important. Living with diabetes is challenging, and I would love to help you at any point in your diabetes journey. I can work with many issues that arise with diabetes including:

  • Adjusting to diagnosis (for both parents/loved ones and youth)

  • Depression/Anxiety/Diabetes Distress

  • Coping with diabetes complications

  • Diabetes burnout

  • Eating disorders and body image (Diabulimia, etc.)

  • Changing health behaviours

  • Staying on track with treatment

If you are someone living with Type 1 Diabetes, or the parent or support person for someone living with Type 1, I would love to support you to live your best life with diabetes (in yourself or a child/loved one). I understand the toll diabetes can have and will meet you where you are with your own diabetes care and journey. There is no judgment of numbers in this space, and you are in charge or what goals you would like to make. Life with diabetes can often contain so many different pressures, and this is not a space where pressure needs to be added- but hopefully one that can help alleviate some of those pressures.

Living with Type 1 Diabetes can be isolating, so I want to be able to provide a point of connection for people who are seeking support from someone who is also living with this chronic condition. I am offering virtual services for those who may not have access to the diabetes support they are needing, and can provide both telephone or secure video conferencing options for clients all across the province of Ontario. Please reach out if you are in need of services and a provider who "gets it" when it comes to the diabetes aspect of things.
